ceivers provide the system designer with a product to

implement a range of solutions for multimode ﬁber Fast

Ethernet and SONET OC-3 (SDH STM-1) physical layers for

ATM and other services.

Transmitter Section

ꢀ LC duplex connector optical interface

The transmitter section of the HFBR-57E0 utilizes a 1300

nm InGaAsP LED. This LED is packaged in the optical

subassembly portion of the transmitter section. It is

driven by a custom silicon IC which converts diﬀerential

PECL logic signals, ECL referenced (shifted) to a +3.3 V

supply, into an analog LED drive current.

ꢀ Operates with 62.5/125 μm and 50/125 μm multimode

ﬁber

ꢀ Receiver outputs are squelch enabled

ꢀ Manufactured in an ISO 9001 certiﬁed facility

HFBR-57E0LZ/PZ:

HFBR-57E0ALZ/APZ:

The receiver section of the HFBR-57E0 utilizes an InGaAs

PIN photodiode coupled to a custom silicon transimped-

ance preampliﬁer IC. It is packaged in the optical subas-

sembly portion of the receiver.

This PIN/preampliﬁer combination is coupled to a custom

quantizer IC which provides the ﬁnal pulse shaping for

the logic output and the Loss of Signal (LOS) function.

The data output is diﬀerential. The data output is PECL

compatible, ECL referenced (shifted) to a +3.3 V power

supply. This circuit also includes a loss of signal (LOS)

detection circuit which provides an open collector logic

high output in the absence of a usable input optical sig-

nal. The LOS output is +3.3 V TTL.

Applications

ꢀ OC-3 SFP transceivers are designed for ATM LAN and

WAN applications such as:

ATM switches and routers

SONET/SDH switch infrastructure

ꢀ Multimode ﬁber ATM backbone links

ꢀ Fast Ethernet
