General Description
• 3 wind modes: Constant, Natural and Sleep
• 5 speed grades for each wind: Super-Strong,
Strong, Medium, Soft, Super-Soft
The PT8A986 can be used with Encoder PT8A982
to provide full control to an infrared remote control
fan. The PT8A986 has a group of output pins
corresponding to all functions. The received signal is
sampled, fault-tolerantly checked and decoded to
control the infrared remote control fan. The fan’s IR
system has three wind modes, five wind grades and
two timing modes. The PT8A986 has non-summable
timing mode in 1h, 2h, 4h and 8h if the A/N floats,
and has summable timing mode in 0.5h, 1h, 2h and
4h if the A/N connects to GND.

The Motor starts or stops at the Zero-cross of the AC
power as an SYN input pin is used. The 50Hz AC
timed pulse input to this pin synchronizes the LL, L,
M, S and SS outputs. In the Natural and Sleep modes,
the wind speed is programmable.
• Low operation current
There is an internal inverter in the PT8A986. By
adding a 32KHz crystal, an oscillator can be
constructed.
