Connectors

Tight, outer-jacket cables are a necessity to withstand the harsh environments found

in military and industrial applications. Designed with an elongated internal ferrule

plug, tight-jacketed cable LC and SC connectors allow the ﬁber to move in tandem

with the internal plug, thereby reducing potential for micro bends, increased insertion

loss and ﬁber breakage.

106063 SC Simplex and Duplex

Connectors

SC and LC connectors were originally designed for pullproof (non-optically

disconnecting) applications which require the ﬁber to move independently of

the cable jacket.When used with tight-jacketed cables, the independent internal

movement of standard SC and LC connector ferrules can induce a micro bend

in some jacket constructions, which can lead to increased insertion loss or ﬁber

breakage.Tight-jacketed cable connectors are designed with a longer ferrule plug,

allowing termination of ferrule and plug to the jacketed cable and strength member

to ensure synchronized movement.

SC interconnects mate to industry-

standard LC and SC connectors

and adapters; cable assemblies are

built utilizing standard LC and SC

termination tools

singlemode versions; for use with all

• Optical cable terminates directly to the

ferrule plug allowing ﬁber in the tight-

loss or ﬁber breakage

• Available with straight or 90° boots,

providing cable routing ﬂexibility

• Angled Physical Contact (APC)

ferrules available, providing superior

return loss of -60dB or better

• Cables tested using MIL-PRF-85045

cable meeting reliability standards for

military and aerospace applications as

well as mining industry MSHA rated

cables and other ruggedized cables
