BCM3310 is a versatile communications processor

and peripheral device, that can be used in a variety of

applications in networking and communications. The

BCM3310 is designed to support applications having

high-performance data transfer requirements such as

Cable Modems, Ethernet Small Office/Home Office

(SOHO) and xDSL applications.

Provides a fully integrated device that integrates the

microprocessor and peripherals functions of a cable

modem into a single device complementing the

BCM3300 DOCSIS-compliant PHY/MAC integrated

circuit by:

Simplifying system, board and software design

Reducing power consumption

BCM3310 provides:

High-performance MIPS R3000 CPU

•

Built-in seamless interface with the BCM3300

eliminating discrete interface components from the

system design

Complete Static Design, 0-80 MHz Operation

10/100 Ethernet MAC with MII Interface

32-bit/33 MHz Master-mode DMA PCI Interface

Universal Serial Bus (USB) Device Interface

80 MHz (85 DMIPS) R3000 CPU with 4K 2-way set

associative I-cache and 1K 2-way set associative

writeback D-cache

IPSEC Interface including DES, Triple-DES, CBC,

MD5, and SHA Algorithm Support

Full IPv6 IP Security (IPSec) module to support

advanced applications such as Virtual Private

Networking (VPN)

TDM Interface capable of supporting up to four voice

channels

Fully USB 1.0 compliant interface for simple plug and

play external cable modem implementations

External Bus Interface (with 8 programmable chip

selects)
