Standard – Linear,10ꢀ Audio and 10ꢀ CCW Audio

Special – Consult factory

The following is basic information on the most

common CTS ¹⁵/16" (±4mm) diameter composition

variable resistor constructions supplied to our

customers. Space limitations prohibit showing the

virtually thousands of additional constructions fabri-

cated to exacting customer specifications. For your

special applications the CTS engineering staff is

at your disposal for designing the best and most

economical construction to meet your requirements.

Angle of Rotation

Standard Construction

Total with rotary switch — 3±0° ± 5°

Total without switch or with push-pull or push-

push

switches — 300° ± 5°

Vernier Adjust Construction

Contact arm 300° ± 5°

Shaft* VA-450 – 3700° – 10 /₄turns (1° for each

Vernier Constructions

This construction is designed for fine tuning

applications. It provides precision adjustments with a

vernier ratio of 6.6˚ or 1±.5˚ per degree available in

1±.5°)

*total effective rotation 5VA-450 – 2000° – 51/2 turns (1° for each 6.6°

Long Life Construction

Total without switch -300° ± 5°

Long Life Construction

Effective Rotation

This construction provides an extended life of ±50,000

cycles (with a limited rotation angle) and is available

with resistance ranging from 10K ohm to 5 megohm,

linear tapers only. Consult CTS.

With or without switch — 300° (approximate)

With fixed resistor — ±±5° (approximate)

Bushing Information

Diameter: EIA Standard ³/8"-3± UNEF-±A thread.

Standard Length: ³/8" or ¹/4" (9.53mm or 6.35mm)

Special Lengths: Available as required.

Metric bushings available. Consult CTS.

Locating Lugs (Bushing Mounted Style)

Standard Position: Left side (terminals down)

supplied unless otherwise specified.

Other Positions: Available with lug right side

(terminals down), without lugs or with lugs

both left and right side.

Shaft Information

Molded Shafts —

Length: Standard — Flatted or knurled shafts

available up to 1¹/±" (38.1mm) in

¹/8" (3.±mm) increments.

Special — Some molded shaft designs

available up to ±" (50.8mm).

Diameter: .±50" (6.35mm) [Diameter over knurl —

.±40" – .±46" (6.10mm – 6.±5mm)].

Color:

Colors are available.

Solid Metal Shafts: Brass or Aluminum —

Length: Standard — Up to 3" in ¹/8" increments.

Special — Up to 1±" (304.8mm).

Diameter: Standard — .±50" (6.35mm)

Special — .187" (4.75mm)

Metal Tubing Shafts —

Length: Standard — Up to 3" (76.±mm)

Special — Consult CTS

Outside Diameter: .±65" (6.73mm)

Real Extended Shafts —

Metal or molded rear extended shafts available.
