The Alcatel 1936 OFA (Optical Fiber
Amplifier) is designed to offer excellent
performance characteristics for WDM
systems in the 1569 - 1604 nm wavelength
range.
The standard, double-stage 17 dBm unit
can be supplemented using external pump
modules to achieve outputs of 20 dBm or
23 dBm.
• Optimized for D-WDM transmission
• Dual-stage 17 dBm basic unit can be to
offer 20 or 23 dBm.
• Low noise figure for optimal SNR
• Flat gain across wide bandwidth range
• Integrated 9 dB mid-amplifier loss port
allows ADM functional customization
• Polarization independent & bit-rate
transparent
A 9 dB mid-amplifier loss port has been
designed in to allow for A/DMUX functions
or dispersion compensation. Tap couplers
at each signal port offer full monitoring
capability.
The Alcatel 1936 OFA achieves very flat
gain in excess of 28 dB, while limiting gain
excursion to < 1 Db (typical) over the
entire 35 nm wavelength range @ 25°C.
Optimization of the architecture yields very
low typical noise figures; < 5 dB for the
17 dBm configuration.
