Description of Operation

3.1 Host Interface

The interface is either a parallel 68K type using an 8 bit data bus, 2 bit address bus, HRW, HIRQ, HACK

and HCS lines or the I²C type using the standard SCL and SDA lines.

The type of interface is set using CPUSEL (Pin 9 on IC).

3.1.1 Control Registers

Using the parallel or serial interface, the Host will only have access to 4 control registers. These 4 control

registers are selected using the host address (HA) setting. In parallel mode, HA is set by two IC pins

which would typically be controlled using two address lines or general purpose outputs. When using

serial control, the HA setting is transferred as a serial data byte.

HA = 00 : Sets the internal address of a particular CXD2099AR Internal Register. The CXD2099AR has

29 addressable registers.

HA = 01 : This register holds the data to be sent to or read from the CXD2099AR Internal Register

HA = 10 : Sets the internal address of the CAM or PC card which will be accessed. This is a 16 bit

supported by CXD2099AR. When writing this register the Host must always send two data

bytes in succession to load the register (least significant byte first).

HA = 11 : This register holds the data to be sent to the PC Card or which has been returned from the

PC Card. To read or write data from the PC Card, a 2 step process is required, first to set the

address and secondly to write or read the required data.

Example A:

Writing to one of the CXD2099AR’s internal registers, location 0x10 with data 0xFF:

a. Write to Control Register HA=00 with value 0x10

b. Write to Control Register HA=01 with value 0xFF

To read from the internal registers, step b is replaced with a read instruction.
