Functional Description  
2.1 Transport Stream Input Interface  
The Transport Stream input may accept either parallel or serial formats. Parallel data rates up to  
9Mbytes/s and serial data rates up to 72Mb/s may be accepted. An internal sync detector is used  
eliminating the need for a start signal. Four different modes of serial input can be configured ensuring  
compatibility with popular Front End demodulators.  
2.2 Transport Stream Output Interface  
The parallel transport stream from a CAM is converted to a serial format inside the CXD2099AR. The  
serial output is a maximum of 72Mb/s. Four different formats are available.  
2.3 Host Interface

The CXD2099AR communicates to a host Microcontroller via a 68K style interface or an I C compatible  
bus. The I2C compatible interface has the advantage of reduced connections and ease of interface inside  
a STB. The 68K interface is required for Dual slot applications or when support for memory cards is  
required.
