GENERAL INFORMATION  
Bi-Phase modulators shift the phase of an RF signal y 1b80° upon appl -i  
cation of aTTL logic signal L. ogic 0 produces a re efrence ( 0°) phase and  
logic 1 changes the phase 18 °0. Bi phase modulators can be used in ca - r  
rier suppression system . sIf an RF signal at a frequency afis applied to  
the RF terminal, and a square wave modulating signal, fm, is applied to  
the bias te rminal ma ny frequencies are gene arted at the RF output T. hey  
are fa, fa± fm, fa±2 fm ––fa±nfm.The car rier, fa is suppressed a mini mum  
of 20 dB on all model .sTypical supression on most models is 30 d . TBhe  
first order sidebands are each d won appr oximately 4 d B., plus inse trion  
los s. The even sidebands are d won 25 dB, and the odd sidebands are as  
foll ows:  
3rd order sidebands—10 dB  
5th order sidebands—14 dB  
7th order sidebands—18 d ,Betc.
