Current Sensing Transformers

TheselowcostCoilcraftcurrentsensingtransformersare

designed for use at 20 kHz to 50 kHz. They incorporate

the current and sense windings in one small, encapsu-

lated package requiring minimum board space.

Varying the terminating resistance R_Tallows sensitivities

of 1 to 10 Volts per Ampere output.

Coilcraft current sensing transformers are designed to

comply with creepage, clearance, insulation, and hi-pot

requirements of IEC 380 and IEC 435, and with UL and

CSA specifications.

Applicationsincludefeedbackcontrol,overloadsensing,

detectingloaddroporshutdown,andproportionaloutput.

Coilcraft Designer’s Kit P203 contains the three stan-

dardcurrentsensingtransformers,sensor-onlyversions

of each, plus two 50/60Hz current sensors. To order,

1. Varying terminating resistance will increase or decrease output voltage/Ampere in conductor. Effect is essentially linear over a restricted operating

range. Frequency response is also affected by varying terminating resistance.
