HAL^®1xy

Low-Cost Hall-Effect Sensor Family

The HAL 1xy Hall switch family is designed

Features

Major Applications

for home appliances and industrial applica-

tions. The sensors are produced in CMOS

technology and include a temperature-com-

pensated Hall plate with active offset com-

pensation, a comparator, and an open-drain

output transistor.

Temperature ranges

– C (Commercial, T = 0 °C to +85 °C)

The HAL 1xy is the optimal system solution

for application fields, such as:

– I (Industrial, T = 20 °C to +125 °C)

White goods

Operates from 3.8 V to 24 V supply volt-

age

– selector switches

– door lock detection

– RPM detection

Operates with static magnetic fields and

dynamic magnetic fields up to 10 kHz

The comparator compares the actual mag-

netic flux through the Hall plate (Hall volt-

age) with the fixed reference values (switch-

ing points). Accordingly, the output

transistor is switched on or off.

Reverse-voltage protection at V pin

Magnetic characteristics are robust

against mechanical stress effects

The active offset compensation leads to

magnetic parameters which are robust

against mechanical stress effects. In addi-

tion, the magnetic characteristics are con-

stant in the full supply voltage and tempera-

ture range.

Short-circuit protected open-drain out-

put by thermal shut down

– Endposition detection

– RPM measurement of motors

– Brushless DC motors

Constant switching points over a wide

supply voltage and temperature range

– RPM measurements in flow meters

– Replacement of micro switches

The decrease of magnetic flux density

caused by rising temperature in the sen-

sor system is compensated by a built-in

negative temperature coefficient of the

magnetic characteristics

The HAL 1xy family is available in the

SOT89B SMD package and in the leaded

TO92UA package.
