GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The ADAF1080 is a single-axis, high-precision, magnetic-field sen-
sor with integrated signal conditioning. The device incorporates an
anisotropic magnetoresistive (AMR) sensor with an integrated sig-
nal-conditioning amplifier, electrical-offset cancellation capabilities,
integrated diagnostics, and an analog-to-digital converter (ADC)
driver for precise measurement of magnetic fields up to ±8 mT.
► Available in a 20-Lead LFCSP with an exposed pad
The ADAF1080 consists of two die within one package, an AMR
sensor, and an application-specific IC (ASIC). The ADAF1080 pro-
vides a precision amplified output signal that is proportional to the
magnetic field strength along the sensitive axis of the sensor. The
output voltage is ratiometric to the supply voltage with a common
mode of half the voltage set on the external VSET input pin.
APPLICATIONS
► Isolated and contactless current sensing
► Handheld current clamp meters
► Motor control current sense
► AC and DC power applications
► Precision magnetic field sensing applications
► Precision linear encoders
The magnetic orientation of the sensor can be defined through
the use of an integrated flip coil that can be used for electrical-
offset cancellation in the presence of a constant magnetic field.
Diagnostics can be carried out through the use of an integrated
diagnostic coil, which can measure the gain of the system or detect
a magnetic saturation event.
► Low-noise, precision magnetometers
