and tested printed circuit board (PCB) that demonstrates  
the MAX77958 Standalone USB Type-C and Power  
Delivery Controller.

The EV kit contains a MAX77961 charger to demonstrate  
the I C master feature of the MAX77958. The MAX77961

I C Master to Control External Charger or DC-DC  
is a buck-boost charger for 2S/3S Li+ battery applica-  
tion and is capable of 3.5V to 25V input voltage, with  
a maximum programmable fast charging current of 6A.  
The MAX77961 can be configured as the 2-cell or 3-cell  
application by the CONG pin resistor (R5), refer to the  
MAX77961 data sheet for more details.

The MAX16904 (a buck converter) is installed on the EV

Proven PCB Layout  
kit to provide 5V to V  
pin. The MAX77958 uses

GPIO2 to enable the buck converter when the MAX77958  
is in SOURCE Power Role.  
Fully Assembled and Tested  
A Micro-B USB cable is included in the package to serve

as the interface from a USB port on a Windows PC to

the slave I C port on the MAX77958. A Windows based  
Ordering Information appears at end of data sheet.  
software provides a user-friendly interface to exercise the  
features of the MAX77958.
