FEATURES

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

Drives high-power white flash LED

Supports single or up to 3 LEDs with

up to 500mA flash current

I2C control of LED currents, GPIO’s, Timing

Hardware control of flash enable

The ADP1652 is a high-power white LED driver and is ideal for

driving white LEDs for use as a camera flash. The ADP1652

includes a step-up converter and two current regulators suitable

for powering a single indicator LED, and up to 3 high-power

white LEDs.

Input Voltage 2.8V to 5.0 V

Watchdog timer prevents LED overstress

Output voltage soft-start reduces battery stress

Thermal overload protection

The ADP1652 includes an I2C compatible serial interface for

control of LED currents and mode (Torch/Flash), as well as for

readback of system status registers. An interrupt output signals

the host processor that a fault has occurred. In the case of an

interrupt, the host processor reads the system registers to

determine the nature of the fault that caused the interrupt.

The step-up converter output voltage is monitored, and if an

output overvoltage condition is detected, the step-up converter

is shutdown to prevent damage in the case of an open circuit. A

watchdog timer monitors the flash duration and shuts down the

flash if the time is exceeded preventing damage to the LED in

the case of a hardware and/or software fault.
