UL¨ listed to UL508 and CSA certified to C22.2 No. 14 V-EA manual motor controllers are  
horsepower rated for AC across-the-line motor starting, suitable for motor disconnect means and  
overload protection. They can also be used for AC general use, AC resistance, AC discharge lamps  
and AC incandescent lamps. Altech/ABL SURSUM V-EA miniature DIN rail mount circuit breakers  
provide an opportunity for major cost and installation time savings and superior circuit protection.  
full rated current (100% breaker). Recognized with Line/Load reversibility, i.e., power feed can be  
field or factory wired to the screw-cage clamp terminals at the ÒtopÓ, range 8 AWG to 3 AWG, or at  
the ÒbottomÓ, range 18 AWG to 2 AWG. The V-EA/U is intended for OEM industrial applications.  
Technical Specifications. Voltage Rating: 480Y/277 VAC (480 VAC phase-to-phase, 277 VAC  
phase-to-ground/neutral). Interrupting Capacity: 10 kA with UL¨ listed RK5 back-up fuse or  
MCCB. Electrical/Mechanical Endurance: 10,000 ON/OFF operations. Calibration Temperature:  
40¡C (104¡F). Terminal Tightening Torque: 20 lbf-In. International Approvals: For various trip  
characteristics and rated currents, Germanischer Lloyd, SEV, SEMKO, NEMKO, etc. VDE mark is  
pending on B, C, an D-trip. CE mark is standard.  
Six trip characteristics are UL¨ listed. All trip characteristics are internationally defined and  
accepted. The ÒGÓ characteristic matches USA and Canadian thermal/magnetic trip norms. All  
rated currents have the same housing dimensions and terminal sizes. The V-EA can be loaded with  
ÒBÓ Characteristic  
One hour trip zone 1.13 to 1.45 times V-EA rated current (RC); magnetic 100 ms trip boundary 3  
to 5 times RC. The ÒBÓ and ÒCÓ characteristics are for special applications requiring magnetic  
trips at lower overcurrent levels than the ÒGÓ or ÒDÓ. Its thermal trip is delayed more than USA  
and Canadian norms, which allows less derating in higher temperature applications. Conductors  
may need to be sized larger to avoid excessive heating in overload conditions. ÒBÓ Trip Curve:  
CENELEC characteristic for residential and similar applications. European residential branch-  
circuits start at 6 amperes.
