The VSC7986 device is an innovative integrated DML laser driver that
delivers optimized laser performance and control in SFP+ optical modules
for 8.5 Gbps Fibre Channel and 10 Gigabit Ethernet applications using only
198 mW power consumption.

Designed to work in conjunction with the VSC7985 10 Gbps VCSEL driver,

the VSC7986 die DC-couples directly to the optical diode inside a TO-can.
This space-saving and power efficient design eliminates bulky external
components, dramatically reducing cost and overall power requirements.
The VSC7986 can achieve power savings of up to 40% at laser end-of-life
conditions.
