■ 250 ꢀbps minimum guaranteeꢂ ꢂata rate

■ Guaranteeꢂ 6 k/ms slew rate range

■ Guaranteeꢂ mouse ꢂrive ability

■ 0ꢃ1 µF external capacitors

■ Meets ꢁIA/TIA-232 specifications ꢂown to 3 k

■ Available in SSOP-2± pacꢀage

It is a complete serial port (3 ꢂrivers, 5 receivers)

intenꢂeꢂ for notebooꢀ or sub-notebooꢀ

computersꢃ Receivers R1 anꢂ R2 have extra

outputs in aꢂꢂition to their stanꢂarꢂ outputsꢃ

These extra outputs are always activeꢃ

Description

The ST3241ꢁ ꢂevice consists of 3 ꢂrivers, 5

receivers anꢂ a ꢂual charge-pump circuitꢃ The

ꢂevice meets the requirements of ꢁIA/TIA anꢂ

kꢃ2±/kꢃ24 communication stanꢂarꢂs proviꢂing

high ꢂata rate capability anꢂ enhanceꢂ

electrostatic ꢂischarge (ꢁSD) protectionꢃ All

transmitter outputs anꢂ receiver inputs are

protecteꢂ to ±± ꢀk using IꢁC 1000-4-2 contact

ꢂischarge anꢂ ±15 ꢀk using the human boꢂy

moꢂelꢃ The receiver R2 is always active to

implement a waꢀe-up feature for serial portꢃ

Typical applications are in notebooꢀs, sub-

notebooꢀs, palmtop computers, battery-powereꢂ

equipment, hanꢂ-helꢂ equipment, peripherals anꢂ

printersꢃ

The ST3241ꢁ has a proprietary low-ꢂropout

transmitter output stage enabling true RS-232

performance from a 3ꢃ0 k to 5ꢃ5 k supply with a

ꢂual charge pumpꢃ The ꢂevice is guaranteeꢂ to

run at ꢂata rates of 250 ꢀbps while maintaining

RS-232 output levelsꢃ
