OP Series

Fibre Optic Active Plug

■

The Fibre Optic Active Plug is an electro optical interface connector used in the

harsh environment market, where secure data transmission, offering a high level

of EMC and EMP protection comes as standard. Typical markets include: Military

Communication, Security Surveillance, Rail Transportation and the Off Shore

Industry.

By specifying the Fibre Optic Active Plug, the user perceives the interface

between the equipment and fibre optic cable to be a standard electrical

connector.

Amphenol offer the facility to incorporate an electronic conversion module

housed within the receptacle or plug backshell, providing coupling directly to the

user's signal interface, ie. RS 232, RS 422, video etc. This negates the need for

replacing the user’s hardware for alternative protocol arrangements. This

facilitates direct replacement of copper systems in many applications.

Amphenol Limited can supply the active device to meet standard data formats

dependant on available line drivers and the environment.
