General Description
Features
The MAX5322 dual, 12-bit, serial-interface, digital-to-ana-
log converter (DAC) provides bipolar ±5ꢀ to ±1±ꢀ out-
puts from ±12ꢀ to ±15ꢀ analog poꢁer-supplꢂ voltages, or
unipolar 5ꢀ to 1±ꢀ outputs from a single 12ꢀ to 15ꢀ ana-
log poꢁer-supplꢂ voltage.

♦ Guaranteed INL ≤ ±± LSB (ꢀax)
The MAX5322 features excellent linearitꢂ ꢁith both inte-
gral nonlinearitꢂ (INL) and differential nonlinearitꢂ (DNL)
guaranteed to ±1 LꢃS (max). The device also features a
fast 1±µs to ±.5 LꢃS settling time, and a hardꢁare-shut-
doꢁn feature that reduces current consumption to 2.8µA.
The output goes to midscale at poꢁer-up in bipolar
mode (±ꢀ), and to zero scale at poꢁer-up in unipolar
mode (±ꢀ). A clear input (CLR) asꢂnchronouslꢂ clears
the DAC register and sets the outputs to ±ꢀ. The outputs
can be asꢂnchronouslꢂ updated ꢁith the load DAC
(LDAC) input.

The device features a fast 1±MHz ꢃPI™-/QꢃPI™-
/MICROWIRE™-compatible serial interface that operates
ꢁith 3ꢀ or 5ꢀ logic. Additional features include a serial-
data output (DOUT) for daisꢂ chaining and read-back
functions. The MAX5322 requires external reference volt-
ages of 2ꢀ to 5.25ꢀ and is available in a 28-pin ꢃꢃOP
package that operates over the extended (-4±°C to
+85°C) temperature range.
