General Description
Features
The MAX5312 12-bit, serial-interface, digital-to-analog
converter (DAC) provides bipolar ±5ꢀ to ±1±ꢀ oꢁtpꢁts
from ±12ꢀ to ±15ꢀ poꢂer-sꢁpplꢃ voltages, or a ꢁnipo-
lar 5ꢀ to 1±ꢀ oꢁtpꢁt from a single 12ꢀ to 15ꢀ poꢂer-
sꢁpplꢃ voltage.

The MAX5312 featꢁres excellent linearitꢃ ꢂith both inte-
gral nonlinearitꢃ (INL) and differential nonlinearitꢃ (DNL)
gꢁaranteed to ±1 LꢄS (max). The device also featꢁres
a fast 1±µs to ±.5 LꢄS settling time, and a hardꢂare-
shꢁtdoꢂn featꢁre that redꢁces cꢁrrent consꢁmption to
3.5µA. The oꢁtpꢁt goes to midscale at poꢂer-ꢁp in
bipolar mode (±ꢀ), and to zero scale at poꢂer-ꢁp in
ꢁnipolar mode (±ꢀ). A clear inpꢁt (CLR) asꢃnchronoꢁslꢃ
clears the DAC register and sets the oꢁtpꢁt to ±ꢀ. The
oꢁtpꢁt can be asꢃnchronoꢁslꢃ ꢁpdated ꢂith the load
DAC (LDAC) inpꢁt.

The device featꢁres a 1±MHz ꢄPI™-/QꢄPI™-/
MICROWIRE™-compatible serial interface that oper-
ates ꢂith 3ꢀ or 5ꢀ logic. Additional featꢁres inclꢁde a
serial-data oꢁtpꢁt (DOUT) for daisꢃ chaining and read-
back fꢁnctions. The MAX5312 reqꢁires a 2ꢀ to 5.25ꢀ
external reference voltage and is available in a 16-pin
ꢄꢄOP package that operates over the extended -4±°C
to +85°C temperatꢁre range.
