Description

Applications

The IS6201A is a dual-output digital multi-

phase buck controller designed for CPU voltage

regulation and is fully compliant with PMBus

1.3.1 specifications.



Constant On-Time (TCOT^TM) control algorithm

for lightning-fast transient response. It also



IS6201A can be configured for 1 or 2-phase

PS1 operation with active diode emulation

automatically or by command.

The IS6201A supports 127 address values for

both the PMBus and I²C bus interfaces. The

device configuration is easily defined using the

Innovision GUI and is stored in the on-chip

Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) to reduce external

components and minimize the package size.

Improved Transient Performance on both

loops minimizes output bulk capacitors and

system cost



Fault Detection and Protection: OVP, UVP,

OCP, OTP, and CAT_FLT

I2C/SMBus/PMBus system interface for

reporting of temperature, voltage, current,

and power telemetry for both outputs

Non-Volatile Memory (NVM) for easy and

virtually unlimited non-volatile programming

Compatible with 3.3V tri-state drivers,

+3.3V supply voltage; -40°C to 85°C

ambient operation; -40°C to 125°C junction

operation

The IS6201A provides extensive OVP, UVP,

OCP, OTP & CAT_FLT fault protection, and

includes thermistor-based temperature sensing

or highest temperature reporting when using

Power Stage. The controller is extremely

flexible, working with DCR current sense,

precision current sense resistors, and power

stages. The IS6201A also includes numerous

VR design simplifying and differentiating

features, like register diagnostics, which

enables fast time-to-market.


