GENERAL DESCRIPTION

FEATURES

X, Y - axis (pitch, roll) response

12-bit digital inclination/acceleration sensor outputs

+1.7 g accelerometer output full scale range (FSR)

+70^oinclinometer output FSR, operable to ~+90^o

Inclinometer outputs are linear in degrees

The ADIS16201, a complete dual-axis digital inclinometer/

accelerometer, uses Analog Devices’ surface-micromachining

process and signal processing to make a functionally complete

and low cost dual-axis sensor.

The digital inclinometer output data is proportional to the

pitch and roll angles. The digital accelerometer output data is

sensitive to both static and dynamic acceleration. Both

sensitivity and bias levels are factory calibrated and can be

updated through field calibration. Frequency response can be

modified through digital filtering. Dual alarm settings are

available with user-defined rate/threshold limits and interrupt

control.

High speed serial interface SPI®

The part features a power down mode to maximize power

efficiency at lower throughput rates. A temperature sensor

measurement is included. The self-test function can be accessed

through digital control, which in turn electromechanically

excites both sensors to test proper operation. Dual ADC inputs

and DAC outputs and a digital I/O port are provided for control

of auxiliary circuits.

The ADIS16201 comes in a 9.2 mm × 9.2 mm × 4 mm package

with temperature range extending from −40°C to 125°C.
